Q&A on Education: 1 - Fraudulent scholarships for minors, and 2 - Syrian schools in Lebanon
1. I heard that there are organizations requesting refugees to pay for scholarships to send minor children abroad. Is this true?
No. UNICEF and UNHCR do not promote any scholarships for minors.
Do not trust any person or organization who offer you scholarships abroad for minor children and never trust them if they ask you for money in return.
If unsure, please approach UNHCR or partner organizations to enquire.
2. If I receive a call about these scholarships, how can I report it?
You can report it by approaching UNHCR in any Registration Center in Lebanon or by calling UNHCR or partners’ hotlines in your area.
Humanitarian services and activities from UNICEF, UNHCR and their partner organizations are FREE OF CHARGE! If anyone asks you for money or favors in return please contact us.
3. Are Syrian schools recognized in Lebanon?
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon does not recognize the Syrian curriculum and does not accredit Syrian schools on the Lebanese territory. UNICEF and UNHCR are not supporting Syrian schools in Lebanon.
