Symptoms of Coronavirus and what to do?

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, breathing difficulties and/or dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell.

Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Around 1 out of every 6 people who get COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness.

What do I do if I believe that I have COVID-19 symptoms or if I think I have been exposed?

  • If you have any of the symptoms (fever, breathing difficulties and/or dry cough, tiredness, aches and pains), or
  • If you have arrived from a country where COVID-19 was reported, or you believe you were in contact with someone coming from these countries (mentioned in Q6 of the Q&A):

Call immediately the Ministry of Public Health on 01594459. They will ask you questions to help establish if you might be infected with COVID-19 and tell you what to do. Avoid going to a hospital prior calling the MoPH hotline.
